Securing food & energy for America and the world

THE FOOD & ENERGY LANDSCAPE

There are people in our world who have limited access to food and energy, and the Gaurav and Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation is committed to changing this reality. The current state of our world’s economic and political climate creates barriers to basic resources needed for survival for people across the globe.

Who We Are

We believe that everyone should have access to basic needs. Our mission is to support families across the globe with adequate access to food and energy supply and to raise awareness about these current conditions.

The Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation is an American-based organization founded in 2015 with the goal to serve communities around the world that lacked the same fundamental resources available in the United States. Food and energy insecurity are urgent problems that affect us now but will affect us all even more in the future. In fact, it has been projected that in less than 50 years, our world’s oil reserves will be depleted1 — but many people are hungry today. Understanding the food-energy connection is crucial in addressing this crisis, and why we are working to bring it to the forefront of conversation.

As a foundation, we take an on-the-ground, from-the-inside-out approach, by immersing ourselves in the physical communities that need support and working to change policy at the root of current systems. We aim to bring awareness of food and energy security to communities within and beyond the United States to create a collective movement. As we look to the future, we hope to bring government officials, business leaders, and policy makers together to foster important discussions around food and energy security and affect policy change.

The Greater Good

Our Focus

Our two main areas of focus are securing food and energy access for families across the globe. We are working to put humanity at the heart of the food-energy connection.

Food Security

828 million people live in hunger. But the crisis of food insecurity goes deeper than empty stomachs. Food insecurity is perpetuated by socioeconomic and political factors such as inequality, conflict, discrimination, and flawed health systems – issues that require everyone’s help to address and solve. While the fight for food security is not a new one, we are dedicated to becoming a major force involved, securing food for those who need help now and for generations to come.

Energy Security

From farm to table, energy is needed in every step of the food production process. Factors like economic status, physical location, and international relations are creating a barrier for disadvantaged areas, including those here in the United States, to have access to reliable energy sources. Like food, energy is vital for the provision and sustainability of humans’ basic needs, including nutrition and our social and economic development. We as a foundation are doing our part to bring awareness to the essential intersection of food and energy by providing people with the information from the ground up.
