In his interview with Lara Logan, Gaurav Srivastava spells out his approach to his business partnership with Niels Troost, along the same lines as Reagan’s approach to the Soviet Union: Trust but Verify. That is why Gaurav demanded an audit a year into the partnership. That audit uncovered many financial irregularities, but most concerning to Gaurav, it revealed Niels Troost was still trading Russian oil - above the price cap and in violation of sanctions.
