How lies proliferate into mainstream media
If fake news articles about you appear in unheard of publications that no one you care about will ever see - do you need to worry? You might be tempted to just put your head down and hope no one will notice.
What about hundreds of such articles? Volume counts for a lot. And eventually, with volume, a conduit can be found into the mainstream. In the targeting of Gaurav Srivastava this was a former WSJ journalist who was running an independent investigative blog. He parroted the story, and that was enough for other real journalists to jump on the bandwagon.
